Sinfonietta Strings supports and enhances the music program in the Nashua School District with group string lessons, three after school string ensembles and a one week summer camp. In the 2019-20 school year, Sinfonietta Strings is offering group violin, viola, and cello lessons for seven Nashua elementary schools: Amherst Street, Dr. Crisp, Bicentennial, Birch Hill, New Searles, Main Dunstable and Mount Pleasant. We also offer double bass lessons to students in 8th grade and above and group lessons to middle school and high school students. All cello and bass lessons and middle school lessons take place at Nashua North High School.

The after-school string ensembles enroll 50 students and continue to grow. The ensembles are for beginners and experienced student string players from Nashua and surrounding communities.  Students enrolled in the ensemble that don’t take private lessons have the option of group lessons as well.

Sinfonietta Strings is supported entirely by private donations and grants. Group lesson students pay only a nominal charge: $30/year for students qualifying for reduced or free lunch; $125/year for others. Ensemble students pay $250/year and those qualifying for reduced or free lunch pay $30/year.

Sinfonietta Strings is supported in part by a grant from the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts and The National Endowment for the Arts. Support comes also from the Nashua Education Foundation, Nashua Rotary, Nashua Arts Commission, Rotary West, Ella F. Anderson, BNY Mellon, N.A., Trustee, Harvard Club of New Hampshire, Citizen’s Bank Abbie Moseley Trust, City of Nashua Citizen’s Advocacy Commission and United Way.
